Art Museum of Fort Lauderdale will be from January 29, hosting a unprecedented exhibition "The Vatican Splendors: A journey through faith and art. " About 200 rare works of art and historically significant objects, many of whom have never left the Vatican, will be part of the show that invites you to explore in depth how the papacy influenced world history over the centuries.
Fort Lauderdale is one of three U.S. cities that will host the Vatican Splendors. Among the highlights of this exhibition includes works by Michelangelo, documents and tools used in work on the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's, works by masters such as Bernini and Giotto, works of art dating from the first century; venerated relics of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, floors frescoes and mosaics, works of famous sculptors, silk garments, precious objects from the Papal Mass, maps and historic documents, artefacts discovered in the tombs of St. Peter and St. Paul, and historical objects of modern and ancient basilicas of St. Peter in Rome.
